You can catch planes from here. There is also a direct train to London Liverpool Street. A few shops and cafes in the airport, it's what you'd typically expect of an airport.
Andrea Milana9月 6, 2014For a nice meal before at Stansted airport before you leave for your holiday destination I recommend the bridge restaurant fantastic food and affordable
Use the bridge bar hidden around the corner from Wetherspoons but well sign posted - it's much quieter & therefore quicker service.

Sometimes it's a haven of peace and quiet, other times it's a heaving mess. There's no way of telling in advance which one it will be, so just be prepared for the latter...
If you are early do not go through security, the departure lounge has 1 atom of floor space, surrounded on all sides by shops, whatever seats there are people cling onto them like life rafts.
Decent airport with lots of shops and choices to eat. Total con that you have to pay £3.50 for up to 10 mins drop off!
Bardia K.1月 1, 2018Might feel like a giant duty free shop with an airport attached to it. Worth exploring security lines to find the shortest; furthest left was out the door, furthest right had no queue at all.
Escape Lounge a good refuge ... Good selection of hot and cold food (pies, sausage rolls; potato, bean, green & couscous salads)

Gatis11月 10, 2023As of November 2023 if you arrive at the first security gates at left hand side you will be asked to trial a new security scanner system. All the liquid's and wallets MUST be in a bag. Much faster.

Matt Anderson12月 21, 2012Gourmet Hot Dog in the main concourse is the least Gourmet experience I have ever had. Served up a cold sausage and when I asked for a hot one the guy picked it up with his fingers and offered it.
Try Stansteds official parking website to book parking in short term Orange. Costs about £10-15 more than long term but so convenient and no wait at all to get out of the airport.
Quick lines at security. Nice offering of shops and restaurants. Take the train to reach London.

Stefy Rfw9月 3, 2014Nice airport! Costa coffe open all night! It is good if you need to wait your plane early in the morning. If you get here early you can find a comfortable seat!
Don't go straight to the wetherspoons for breakfast... Walk to the right of it through a corridor and you find the Bridge bar and restaurant. Much nicer and much quieter.
What a totally ridiculous new layout. Winding lane of shops to go through just after security. People stopping and tripping over each other. You should have left it as it was!

The Illustrius bar is in a quiet place, near gate 44. They serve a pretty decent Guinness. Recommended if you want to escape from the noise of the central hall, after security check.
In a rush? Pay £5 or €6 for fast track security at door 1. It's by no means fast but it's still quicker than waiting in a queue of hundreds!
M K5月 20, 2012Be sure to leave extra time to get through security. Liquids 100mls and less must be placed in a 20cmx20cm resealable bag and kept out of your bag separately.

Marc C. Lange2月 27, 2014Def. take the national express buses, and not the ones by Terravision. NE has free WIFI and nice personnel while TV just keeps messing it up, and is unapologetic. Missing appointments because of them
The new self bag drop is super quick. Took max 10 minutes to drop the bag.
Bilal Al Mokaddem5月 12, 2018We landed on time and immigration was fast but we had to wait 55 minutes to know on which belt our Baggage will come. That is disappointing at nice airports like Stansted.
As of August 2014, security is much improved & queues are much shorter. Plus you can be dropped off and picked up outside the terminal, rather than downstairs

Phil Marshall5月 4, 2013Dropping people off by car? Follow signs for express set down, then you pay £2 at the exit. There's a change machine but you can pay by card! Free set down is at a car park a short free bus ride away

Still a largely unpleasant flying experience from Stansted. Parking is expensive and everyone is squeezed into one terminal, when busy involves queues and most expense. No fun really.- Escape Lounge excellent But definitely needs Power sockets at each table. Trains to gates 1-39 often Short and do Not match all the entry Doors.
The FastTrack security option, at £7 pp, is a life saver for post COVID travel.

This is a modern quite simple functional airport. Right now is undergoing through some renovations so the main waiting area is very crowded so i advise to buy whatever yo have to buy and go directly

Dimitris Kotsios12月 12, 2014This airport is not so good ! Only 1 hr. wifi! There are many people sleeping there but they can't sleep because there are no chairs or place to sit! The cheapest way to go to the center is easybus!
Sam9月 16, 2014£3.50 for fasttrack security (from the parking booking website) seems like a bargain when you see the queues at 6am!
The security wall has moved so ponti's is now after security. No one can find it yet though so it's a nice quiet place to sit!
