Buford Douglas9月 13, 2018Opened in 1894. Claims to have invented Rocky Road, Toasted Almond, and Swiss Milk Chocolate flavors in the first decades of the 20th Century. Moved to current location in 1961.
Adrian Phillips11月 17, 2015Probably the creamiest ice cream I've had in the bay area yet. The mocha almond fudge and raspberry swirl was a solid combo. Single is huge with two flavors, so get the petite if you're not hungry.

Only tried the regular vanilla ice cream (there's also vanilla bean) but it was really good. Bring $$$. Almost $5 for a single-scoop cone. Ouch!

Hot tip: save money with kids by ordering a deconstructed kids’ banana split. Up to 3 flavors, up to 3 toppings, banana can be on the side, whipped cream + cherry 🍒 for $8.50.

The line was insane but moved quick. The location is legendary. We go for the dessert and the milk shakes are not to be missed.

If you'd like your sundae horizontal instead of vertical, the technical term here is to ask for it in a "banana boat". Then you can get to both flavors of ice cream, simultaneously.

The BEST place to get an ice cream stomach ache! They serve a mean French Dip au jus as well.
- Long line but hey.. As a youngster from this area it was all about hanging and still is .... Right.. I would sit at the counter to get fast service and have the sliders any day. no wait....

The Banana Jr. is a perfect (giant) banana split. No need to go with the full-size.

If you're driving and nearby parking is scarce, park in the parking lot at 41st & Piedmont. The walk will do you good and you'll save time.
all single scoops are actually double; highly recommended to split CCAC and chocolate marble. the combination is vanilla ice cream with caramel + chocolate sauce, with a little almond crunch. heaven!

Black and Tan!!! All the way! Get it in a bowl instead of the tall ice cream glass. Easier to eat and you get to enjoy both flavors before they melt.
The best deal is to get a "single" with 2 flavors split it with a friend or bring it home and eat it over a couple of days. It's a lot of ice cream!

Black and Tan sundae is the best! Swap out one of the flavors for Swiss milk chocolate ice cream to make it even better than the original- Get the chicken strips, not the chicken tenders. The strips cost $2 less and don't come with fries, but they have 5 strips vs 4 in the tenders...

Get the flight for ice cream to try three different flavors. Best deal of the menu, enough to serve two.
Fenton's not only a place for ice cream, but they have wonderful selection of breakfasts for reasonable prices. :-)
Eileen Samuelu4月 10, 2014Back room is great for some quiet and great for families and large groups. Weekdays are less crowded but not by much.- The cold fudge is a great way to help keep your sundae from turning into a puddle before you eat it. It's not listed on the menu, just ask nicely.

The ice cream flights are a great way to try different flavors all at one. FYI, a small scoop can be between a baseball or softball size. Try the sliders!
