Basilica Cistern (Yerebatan Sarnici) is a historic water cistern constructed by the Byzantine Empire. Engraved decorations exist over some of its 336 columns. It has a capacity of 80.000 m3 water.

Viretta Park has become a landmark of sorts in recent years thanks to the late Kurt Cobain, who died in the shingled house to the north of the park. Fans leave flowers & other offerings on the benches
Established 1920s(?). Antique fixtures(?). Was brothel, speakeasy and gambling parlor across from old police headquarters. The system was so corrupt a tunnel connected the two buildings.
On notorious Doyers Street, nicknamed “The Bloody Angle,” you can still visit one of the tunnels which enabled some gang escapes. Enter near Apotheke, and you'll exit at Confucius Plaza.
Do the haunted ghost tours at 9 it not only has plenty of town history but you learn about the people haunting certain buildings.
