The inventive menu here changes daily, but when it's available, the house-smoked brisket sandwich ($10) with roasted curry cherry tomatoes, spicy slaw and Russian dressing is a knockout.

The mystery ingredient gives the meat a double-dose of beefiness, so that Pal's Burger, served rare to medium-rare, tastes more like aged steak.
