Don't miss the Julian Opie pieces on the windows on the 7th (?) floor (whatever floor guests go to). All the artwork here is really impressive.
The zoo was not part of the original design for Central Park but spontaneously evolved in 1859 from gifts of exotic pets and other animals informally given to the Park.

This is a misnomer. It is both a pedestrian and a bike path although not a few cyclists seem to be cognizant of the rules on this path.

Unfortunately this beautiful Art Deco building’s observation deck has been closed since 1945. The marble lobby is open to visitors though, and it’s free!

You can catch a breather while walking around and sit on the steps out front but we recommend venturing inside to see the simply spectacular Reading Room.
