The "park bench" scene which opens the film Forrest Gump was filmed on the north side of Chippewa Square. The bench was a fiberglass prop, rather than one of the park's actual benches.

I LOVE this place. I love the zoo, the trails, It's a wonderful, cheap thing to do on a great Saturday, pack a lunch and pick a spot on the grass and enjoy! AND you're in the middle of history.
Awesome exhibits. Yorktown was service in ww2 as did the submarine they have here. They allow groups to stay overnight. It is very popular with boy scout groups.
The trip out to see is worth it on the boat and the historical value is important for any child or adult to see as it relates to american history.

I got on line at 10:15am on a Tuesday and sat down with my BBQ at 1:05. Totally worth it. Remembering the ribs and brisket brings a tear to my eye.
What's good here? Everything. Blueberry chipotle ribs and jalapeno cheese grits. Dear lord.
