Jesse: Awesome fine dining experience without the stuffiness that's right around the corner from endless hip dives on E 6th St
Jesse: Best BBQ I've found in town that doesn't have an hour ++ line. You can make reservations here and they give you BBQ, you know, like a normal restaurant.
Jesse: Great dive. People seem to unironically squaredance here while hipsters stumble around them to make it to the bar. It's hilariously confusing.
elyse: it's not square dancing, it's texas two step, and yes, we definitely do it unironically.
Jesse: Classy spot for good cocktails
Una: +1 This might be my favorite bar (probably bc its proximity to my place but also bc the cocktails are LEGIT and the atmosphere is adorbs :) ) They have great food as well, a small outdoor patio, and all-night happy hour on Mondays
Jesse: The back patio is basically the Austin version of Zeitgeist, minus the weed.
elyse: but if you REALLY want to get texas-y, go two-steppin at broken spoke, an actual long-standing austin classic that somehow hasn't gotten torn down yet
elyse: bomb margaritas and the most tex-mex-y classic queso ("bob armstrong dip") in town. it's also HUGE and totally un-cool but the food is so damn good.
elyse: if you can't spend the $$$ on Uchi and don't want to/can't drive up to Uchiko, check out Fukumoto. amazing yakitori and some super fresh fish, classic sushi style.
elyse: one of the best new places in Austin; amazing veggie dishes and super interesting funky kids-cereal-style desserts.
elyse: my favorite downtown bar! the best penicillin i've ever had, the indian paintbrush which was voted best cocktail in austin, a great whiskey list, and an amazing midcentury mod vibe.. in a literal garage
Garrett DeRossett: It's a chain, but the breakfast tacos are unbeatable. You can get 'em at Flightpath and Seventh Flag too.
Sophie: The only BBQ you should go to (everyone has opinions lol) It has free beer and is as good as franklin without the 4 hour wait
Sophie: Good clothing for dudes. Chels can hang in By George across the street which is also great
Sophie: Good cocktails, cool old building, good food truck in back
Una: +1 to this place on the East side :) super chill bar, all the way at the end of 6th -- so if you're doing East Side bars, it's a nice place to end up some nights too
Sophie: French food. Get your photo taken in the tin type photobooth on site. http://lumieretintype.com/
Sophie: My favorite local beer place. They make their own beer. Great food, great atmosphere, lots of space. Perfect in nice weather
Una: You need to make reservations but this is a really cool speakeasy kinda hidden away on 6th
Una: Really rad coffee shop -- there's a huge backyard thats all lit up in string lights. They also have events regularly
