go during "aloha hour" -- half off pupus! the small plates are beautiful, delicious & perfectly portioned. try the beer battered catch (we had ono), kalua pork spring rolls, brie & short ribs.

As the Big Island's most famous restaurant, this oceanfront venue is as traditionally Hawaiian as they come. Try the jiaozi dumplings with scallops and lobster, served in a sweet and sour broth.
We really enjoyed the tour. Our guide was a native, he had lots of knowledge of kona trees as well as indigenous plants and trees. Loved the coffee and the overall atmosphere! Highly recommend.

One of the most uniquely beautiful beaches in the world. Bring good shoes, water, and sun protection - there is no water or shelter on the hike, which is about 1h each way. Worth it!

You need to stop here if you're in Hilo. Open Wed-Sat only, 10-5. Incredible mochi and manju. Get a bunch!!
Burgers made from locally raised, grass-fed beef are wonderful--especially rare or medium rare.
If the sun's out, you will see a TON of turtles sunning, especially near the lagoon (north side of the bay). Don't bother snorkeling back there - the visibility is terrible - but bring a good camera!
Best beach I've seen so far on the island. There is no sign at the turn off. You have to look for the cemetery then the turn is right across from the cemetery. Gorgeous!

After a long day of hiking, a few servings of kava relaxed our tired muscles while platters of tender pork, lightly seared ahi, and tangy greens refueled us for another round of activities.

Their home-made locos are the best! The Koji Loco has two homemade patties, one egg, two port sausage, kim chee, rice and mac salad! What a meal!

Good sports bar with decent pizza and beer at good prices for a resort-area restaurant.
Can't imagine a better deal than the premium tasting for $8. Quaint little winery with a friendly staff. Not mind-blowing wine by any stretch but it's certainly fun and drinkable.
Macadamia nuts in every flavor you could imagine. They allow sampling of them all too! If you love macadamia nuts, stop here. They sell Kona coffee and several other local items as well.
View of the sunset is great, and the beer list is the best in Kona! Food is meh. Drink here, eat somewhere else.
