Day 1 - Our Traveling UMD Bulldogs depart for Paris, France to begin the journey of "Normandy: the 70th Anniversary of D-Day".
Day 2 - Checking into the Mercure Honfleur Hotel. This evening, we'll join fellow travelers for a hotel reception and Welcome Dinner at a restaurant in Honfleur.
Strolling the narrow streets in its classic French town center, nestled against a striking 17th-century harbor. Soak in the scene that has inspired artists, writers and musicians for centuries.
Day 4 - Taking in Omaha Beach and its memorial. Continuing along the Calvados coastline, the theater for Operation Overlord, and then seeing the U.S. Military Cemetery at St. Laurent-sur-Mer.
Day 5 - Exploring Honfleur’s markets and shopping for its world-renowned cheeses Camambert, Livarot and Pont-l'Eveque while discussing the French lead-up to D-Day and its servicemen's heroic efforts.
Day 6 - The museum's 25th anniversary, the Peace Memorial in Caen honors the heroes of the Battle for Caen. Then we'll continue on to Utah Beach, and also stop at the German cemetery at La Cambe.
Day 7 - Leaving little wonder why this UNESCO World Heritage site is considered a Wonder of the Western World. The first church built in the 8th century, the island served as monastery & fortress
Day 8 - Visiting Monet's house and his studio where he painted his famous "Water Lily" series. Enjoying lunch at La Terra Cafe among the gardens of the museum, and stopping for a tasting of Calvados.
Day 9 - Bon voyage, France! After some last-minute sightseeing and breakfast, we're transferring to the airport for our return flights back to the United States.
