Portland (ME) Favorites

Jenna Rose Robbins: You could spend hours wandering the cobblestone streets and popping in and out of shops, with nary a chain store in sight.

Jenna Rose Robbins: I've seen more impressive lighthouses, but ya still gotta go, if only because of its fame. The park is worth a few hours strolling and playing in the surf.

Jenna Rose Robbins: A must-visit for any literary or history buffs. Although Longfellow only lived here as a boy, he wrote several famous works during visits in his adulthood.

Jenna Rose Robbins: Vegan food hearty enough to win over omnis. Darn good poutine and small but tasty sandwiches.

Jenna Rose Robbins: Hang out by the shore or have a picnic in the shade. The abandoned mansion isn't as impressive as I'd hoped, so it's not worth a visit if you're only coming to explore an abandoned space.

Jenna Rose Robbins: Incredibly delicious Thai with lots of vegan options and friendly staff. Make sure to check out their daily specials.

Jenna Rose Robbins: Despite the name, there's actually several vegan options on the menu that were as tasty and gooey as the real thing!

Jenna Rose Robbins: One of many indie bookstores in town, centrally located and just a few blocks from the home where Longfellow himself grew up.

Jenna Rose Robbins: Great vegan Asian food, possibly the best in town.

Jenna Rose Robbins: Darn good wood-oven pizzas, although they forgot my vegan cheese and only gave me sauce on crust. Bring bug spray if you plan to eat outside.

Jenna Rose Robbins: Derek and his van took us past all the must-see Portland sights and even let us linger at some of the lighthouses. He's a wealth of information and a hoot to boot!
