There'a a street near Sensoji shrine in Asakusa that has several semi-outdoor izakaya, always lively at night.
Weird place. You have to strike a big gong to get in and a mechanical doll will ask you questions and decide whether to let you in or not. Make sure to go to the bathroom if you decide to go.
Crazy lively place! The place you wanna be if you're up to meeting the locals and trying out local delicacies or small eateries. Lots of expats and blue collared workers. Beers, shocho.. tons of them!
Mock sumo restaurant (compare to the sumo equivalent of Medieval times, perhaps?). Sometimes hosts matches, always hosts decent food & drink

The original Chanpon ramen establishment. I first visited in 2005 and since then they've spawned to dozens of stores as far as Hokkaido. Great spicy, cabbage-rich ramen.
Just what Shibuya needed - Another mall! But seriously, this one is worth a visit for its shops, restaurants and theatre on its top floor. The restaurants provide nice views of Shibuya.

Fu-Unji. Simple put, the best ramen I've ever had thus far. Get the 950Yen Tsukemen and take a seat. Separate plates for broth and noodles which is nice. Leave with the biggest smile on your face.
Great location (subway exit 2) 3 min walk, restaurant great food nice view! Best and cleanest shower in town!
Good for a stroll or a sit when the weather is nice, but most areas don't provide much cover when there's searing heat (as you'd expect to find in mid-July)
