In 1969, NYU alumna Edith Windsor (GSAS '57) began a career as an activist, inspired by the Stonewall Inn riots.
In 2007, the number of NYU graduates, family, and friends exceeded the capacity of Washington Square Park, and commencement was moved to its current location in Yankee Stadium.
Founded in 1854, NYU-Poly is the nation’s second-oldest private engineering school. On January 1, 2014, NYU-Poly will become the newest school at NYU: the NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering.
