Can't go wrong
1. Barley Swine
Michael Champagne: Open your mind and bring a friend that is ready for a food adventure.
2. Ramen Tatsu-ya
Michael Champagne: I love that Austin is a town that a niche restaurant like this can thrive in. Best ramen that I've found. Also worth the wait.
3. Ryu of Japan
Michael Champagne: Chefs from Kumamoto, Japan. Sit at the bar and let them make what they want.
4. Tucci's Southside Subs
Michael Champagne: My favorite for subs. Worth the drive from North Austin, because there's nothing to compare up here.
5. La Condesa
6. Franklin Barbecue
Michael Champagne: One of the few places in the world that I don't mind waiting for food. Worth it.
7. Frank Restaurant
Michael Champagne: Crazy, but delicious combinations of meat in tube form (that's a Bourdainism).
8. Cover 2
Michael Champagne: Has the right mix for watching the NFL on Sundays...Bloody Mary Bar, great menu and just enough televisions...
9. Banger's Sausage House & Beer Garden
Michael Champagne: Beer & sausages...match made in heaven.
10. Lucy's Fried Chicken
Michael Champagne: Anxiously awaiting the opening of their Burnet Rd. location. They served smoked oysters with crunchberries as a daily special. 'nuff said.
11. Brick House Tavern + Tap
Michael Champagne: I adore their unhealthy menu and GWD trivia on Tuesdays.
12. Hopdoddy Burger Bar
Michael Champagne: Both locations are burger champions.
13. Perla's Seafood and Oyster Bar
Michael Champagne: Fresh seafood so good that you forget you're in land-locked Austin.
14. Black Star Co-op
15. MAX's Wine Dive Austin
Michael Champagne: If only for the fried chicken...and the poster that says, "Champagne Kicks Ass!".
16. Roaring Fork
Michael Champagne: Baja shrimp cocktail...and everything else..
