Matthew Caldecutt: Two scoops of anything on a hot day is fantastic. It's all homemade. I like butter pecan and chocolate chip. Add a banana for that old-timey feel.

Matthew Caldecutt: Sunday brunch has a plethora of great dishes -- buffet style. Waffles, pasta, seafood, etc. -- it's all great and inexpensive by New York City standards.

Matthew Caldecutt: You can grab a coffee before boarding and beer on your way home. It feels so suburban that it's hard to believe you're in Queens.

Matthew Caldecutt: Come for the shopping and the scenic train ride, but stay longer for the food.

Matthew Caldecutt: Grab a lobstah roll and for dessert, you have your pick of scoops and sundaes.

Matthew Caldecutt: Pick your craft beer before you grab a seat outside during the summer and order a BBQ plate -- 1 or 2 meats, sausage, and three sides chosen by the kitchen. The Mexican corn is my favorite.

Matthew Caldecutt: The doughnuts are fresh and all of them are delicious. Get a dozen; their boxes hold up well if you need to travel with them.

Matthew Caldecutt: The staff is extremely helpful and doesn't mind the number of devices unplugged so Apple fans can recharge.

Matthew Caldecutt: Great service, delicious pasta, huge salads, and interesting apps. Oh, the unsweetened iced tea is unlimited.

Matthew Caldecutt: Mix and match; you won't be disappointed. I enjoy the sushi tapas with a special roll and one or more appetizers.

Matthew Caldecutt: Jack Daniel's chicken strips are still my favorite after all these years but half a Cajun pasta and shrimp is a close second.

Matthew Caldecutt: Depends on the event, but I hope the one you attend got the coffee machines that can make just about any type.

Matthew Caldecutt: Clams casino is my favorite appetizer even during weekend brunch, which has a great bread basket as well as Eggs Benedict.

Matthew Caldecutt: Enjoy their outdoor seating in the warm weather and have a lobster roll with fries while you're at it. Maybe a creme brule for dessert?

Matthew Caldecutt: If there's a line, you may want to come back later. This isn't a quick process. 10 minutes or per cup.

Matthew Caldecutt: Settled on pancakes and bacon. Having eggs next time. Great service. Strong coffee.

Matthew Caldecutt: Swim lessons for children and more -- even for non-member.

Matthew Caldecutt: Lots of great food right off the second floor.

Matthew Caldecutt: Lobster roll with chips and a ginger beer that you can eat in the hotel's second-floor dining area. Watch out for the tourists. There are plenty.

Matthew Caldecutt: I think their iced coffee is always served as a red eye. Regardless, I often get one with a butter pecan cookie.

Matthew Caldecutt: Great park for picnics. Head further into the park for trails and a bridle path if you're so inclined.
