I moved here in 2021. These are the restaurants I can vouch for.
1. Big Sky Bread Company
Michael Hussey: The best Thumbprint Cookies you've ever tasted. Also a big fan of the scones and any of their breads.
2. Cia cafe
Michael Hussey: Their off-menu feta tomato breakfast sandwich is possibly the tastiest breakfast sandwich in Portland-metro.
3. DiPietro's
4. Hank’s
5. Hi Bombay!
Michael Hussey: I like that the interior is a bit run down. This place is always good and reasonably priced.
6. Hot Suppa
Michael Hussey: Fried Green Tomato Eggs Benedict is a 10/10. Perfection.
7. Indy’s Sandwich
Michael Hussey: Vietnamese inspired sandwich menu. Almost everything on the menu is well-thought out and excellent.
8. Izakaya Minato
Michael Hussey: Our new favorite restaurant in Portland. Omakase is the only way to go.
9. Lazzari
Michael Hussey: As good as most any Neapolitan pizza joints you'd find in NYC.
10. Lenora
Michael Hussey: Breakfast burrito is the way to go.
11. Mami
Michael Hussey: A very fun menu. Great lunch spot if you are hungry.
12. Market Street Eats
Michael Hussey: Amazing breakfast sandwiches -- maybe the best in all of Portland.
13. Mazzat Restaurant
Michael Hussey: There are a lot of good middle eastern / arabic food options on Forest Ave. So far, this is my favorite.
14. Miss Portland Diner
Michael Hussey: My favorite pure diner in Portland. Hard to get a table, though. Go on off days/hours, if you can.
15. Mr. Tuna
Michael Hussey: The best sushi in Portland by a very wide margin.
16. Night Moves Bread
Michael Hussey: The best pure bread bakery in town.
17. Ramona’s
Michael Hussey: $15 sandwiches that are worth every penny.
18. Red Sea
Michael Hussey: Thankful to have Red Sea in town.
19. Rose Foods
Michael Hussey: The pastrami sandwich is as good as any you'll find in NYC. The bagels are my favorite in Portland, as well.
20. Ruby Thailand
Michael Hussey: The best pure thai restaurant in all of the Portland-area (and I've tried many of them).
21. Scales
Michael Hussey: Consistently excellent - high-end Maine seafood. We like to come here for birthdays or dinners with visitors from out of town.
22. Scratch Baking Co.
Michael Hussey: Everyone goes for the bagels, but the desserts are always simple and great.
23. Sichuan Kitchen
Michael Hussey: Daikon Salad FTW
24. SoPo Seafood
25. Taj
Michael Hussey: Taj has the best standard Indian food in the entire Portland, Maine area. Go for the lunch buffet right when they open.
26. The Bayou Kitchen
Michael Hussey: It really does feel (and taste) like New Orleans. I'm not sure there is a more satisfying breakfast spot in all of Portland. Try the Cajun Scramble and add a blueberry pancake if you have room.
27. The Lobster Shack
Michael Hussey: My favorite fish and chips in the area.
28. The Shop - Raw Bar & Shellfish Market
Michael Hussey: Unbeatable Oysters, A must for any tourist group.
29. Two Fat Cats
Michael Hussey: Try any of the fruit pies! Otherworldly good.
30. Uncharted Tea
Michael Hussey: Hot thai tea with low sugar is my go to. BOGO FTW when you are with kids.
