The picturesque building dominating the square is the Presidential Palace, built in 14th century for the first bishop of Vilnius. Today the palace houses the offices of the President of Lithuania.

Dabartiniuose Prezidento rūmuose 16 a. buvo vyskupų rūmai, caro laikmečiu - generalgubernatūra. Čia ankėsi Liudvikas XVIII, Aleksandras I, Napoleonas Bonapartas.
