John Denver sang “Country Roads” here Sept. 6, 1980, to open the new stadium. Singing “Country Roads” after victories is now a favorite tradition.
The plaza is a memorial for those lost on the Battleship USS West Virginia at Pearl Harbor and WVU students who died in service of the USA in wartime, and also hosts student memorial services.

On WVU football game days, park here and take the shuttle to the stadium. Round trip fee is $3. Shuttle buses start 2 hours before kickoff and run as necessary after the game.
