Here's one of your typical Berlin Mediterranean self-service eats. Beyond typical, it serves the usual suspects like falafel and halloumi at above-average quality, fresh and tasty. Reasonably priced.
Come here for a creative, internationally infused stir-up of austro-german traditional cuisine – surprisingly tasty and well prepared. Total bummer though: Waiting staff is mostly utterly incompetent.
This place is just bursting with joy of life and Berlin-Italian fusion hospitality, along with an exceptionally delicious Neapolitan and Sardinian cuisine that has yet to find its peers in Berlin.
Self service joint with a decent wood-fired oven to produce surprisingly tasty pizza. Well invested lunch money. Especially bustling at lunchtime, so expect a little wait. Hidden champ: Fitness Salad.
Opt for the Daily Specials and soups to get real variation. All else is pretty okay, yet sometimes trying too hard to be vegetarian, fastfood. Friendly folks. More of a lunch choice, closes at 8pm.
No MSG, no frills. Just tasty, Asian food that really deserves a good amount of praise - not a fancy place but an honest, friendly one. Especially nice in summer for Kiez al fresco dining.
One of the better ones amongst the otherwise seemingly endless Indian-chain-places-in-disguise in Kreuzberg and Neukölln. Authentic Curries, friendly guys. Pay the Euro extra it costs. Worth it!
Looking for real Korean BBQ? Go here and not to that one other fancy-pants American-run place in Kreuzberg. Don't be deceived by the somewhat dated interior. Here's where you get the real deal. Steal!
One notch above average asian restaurant. Great Tea, very fresh and tasty dishes. Also a little pricier than average, but for a good reason. Very friendly and knowledgable staff. Enjoyable throughout.
One of Berlin's best artisan bakery that doesn't make any fuss about being awesome. Nor is it hip and/or fancy, so that's a big plus. Try the multi grain bread rolls and the delicious apple rolls.
Hidden gem in the Kunger Kiez. Serves exceptional German cuisine with an international twist. Great wines, regional, organic ingredients. Not exactly cheap, but you know why. Owners are great people!
Looking for Schnitzel? Yep. It's here. And it's famous. Plus, it comes in two sizes. Only go for the large (regular!) one if you plan to explode afterwards. Good artisan, local beer (Eschenbräu).
The only place I have discovered to serve IPA in Berlin so far. Go here if you miss Brooklyn.
Delicous home-made cakes and tarts. The place has a nice neo-industrial feel to it and features an open kitchen. Serves very good coffee as well. Take-out available and common.
Wonderful Hummus with sautéed mushrooms. More of a place for a quick bite, but tasty. Offers Shakshouka as well. Don't go Türe just for the Falafel, thise they have more interesting things in store.
This place, while sporting a somewhat rustic look on the inside, offers unarguably one of the best Chinese dishes in town. Even during the week the kitchen is open until 1AM. Try the Kung Pao Chicken!
Very good if not one of the best places for (also late!) breakfast in Berlin. The Small Vegetarian plate is more than enough for one and my favourite choice. Tasty lunch options as well. No dinner.
Outstandingly fragrant and savoury Falafel sandwiches, perfectly seasoned and made to order. Tastes better than anywhere around in the area. exceptional Seasoning, sauces and bread - all for the win.
