We're calling it: Café Névé has THEE best coffee in the city, which only tastes better after a tough mob. They also have a tasty, healthy brunch menu with amazing soup-sides. And cookies to die for!
IMHO, THE best place for coffee and (or) pastries and just about anything maple-related in Old Montreal. (There's even a little maple museum downstairs you can walk through in a few minutes)

Go to the Old Port, stay for the long winded romantic walk to the clock tower and the crashing waves on the seaway. Dodge little kids and meandering tourists.
Beautiful blue interior. Breathtaking. Don't forget the chapel in the back with a wood finish and the light show in the evening.
Great Fine Arts museum, not in its permanent collection but for its exhibitions, from Miles Davis to Faberge eggs represents a beautiful melange of artistic talents.
The collection is small but thoughtfully curated. All arranged on one floor, it can be seen in under an hour. When I was there, the MACM was exhibiting lots of mind-bending short film pieces.
