John Miller: The railroad completed tracks to Grand Rapids in 1890 leading to a boom in population and construction. The Craftsman style structure dates from 1928.

John Miller: Mike McAlpine came to Grand Rapids in the 1870's to work in a logging camp before getting involved in real estate. In 1910 this building was built replacing an earlier structure destroyed by fire.

John Miller: Pokegama Hotel, circa 1920. The parking lot next to the hotel was once the location of the horse stables.
