This was the first ride I ever went on at Hollywood Studios (then MGM) all those years ago. It's very nostalgic to me. Be sure to ride it a few times to see both Gangster and Bandits versions.
if you love movies, you'll love this ride. as a cinephile myself, i can't not tell you that i teared up multiple times on the ride...especially during the montage at the end
It is a great attraction related to classic and co temporary films. Not the best for little ones if they don't know, fantastic for adults. Aliens is great!
Unforgettable experience. This is a slow ride but made so good that you can enjoy all the best movie classics. Expect Fred Astaire's Dancing in the rain, Star Wars, Western, Indiana Jones and...
This is a great ride to rest and cool off on. Love re-living some of the classic movies. The ride does need to be updated. I think The Alien scene needs to give way to something else.
The trick to getting the western scene is this. The ride must be running two groups at once. The first car or group gets the western scene. The second gets the mob scene.
As you're leaving the Egyptian tomb before the zombie scene, look to the left and look for the Mickey and Donald figures carved into the stone dressed as pharaohs, quite a sight!
The greatest of all Hollywood Studio rides, the Great Movie Ride takes you inside of the movies! If you get a change, request to see the Bandit show for a very realistic explosion!
HIDDEN MICKEY: once in the boat, right before you pass underneath the sign, look to your left in one of the house's windows. You'll see a tiny silhouette of 3 familiarly cute circles :)
Sit up in front for the best experience. No wait in evening so you can easily do it then. Great for film geeks. Animatronics are in the uncanny valley but worth seeing if rides aren't option at time.
Idk why people are hating on this so much. It's a classic and makes you feel like you're in HOLLYWOOD. if you have an imagination you'll love. Everyone else, go away!
Take it from a former Movie Rider: it does make or break your experience depending on your guide but you can't control it. The Cast Members aren't actors-they are just normal people!
The Great Movie ride is one of two attractions that were originally slated to be a pavilion in Epcot -- "Great Moments at the Movies" is the reason Hollywood Studios is here today!!
