Visits to the catacombs & monastery is by guided tour only. The catacombs house holds the skeletal remains of an estimated 70,000 people that were killed during the Spanish Inquisition.

This square's simple abode church is small but thanks to its exquisitely carved pulpit has been called the finest example of colonial wood carving in the Americas.

1 hour by local bus (a great experience, but a hairy ride!). Very colourful. There are also some great ruins here.
In Inca times the plaza called Huacaypataun was twice as large as it is today. It was the Heart of Inca Cusco and remains the heart of the modern city.

Also known as Plaza de Armas it is the main square in Lima. With its Spanish architecture, houses the government palace, the city hall, the cathedral and the archiepiscopal palace.
The main reason to come to Nazca is to take an overflight to see the ancient Nazca Lines. Be prepared for a flight with a lot of turns, and they supply spew bags if you need it. Flight times 40 min!
Old Nazca burial place discovered in the early 1920’s. The mummies with their cloth & tapestries are perfectly preserved thanks to the very dry climate. Most of the mummies are over a 1000 years old.

It gets crowded on weekends and sometimes has live music. There is an entrance fee. Upstairs is the Zero Pub and pool bar, a good place for drinks before hitting the clubs.
It is by far the most remarkable sight in Arequipa. It was opened to the public in 1970 after four centuries of mystery. Open from 9:00 – 16:00 daily with the last exit being at 17:00. A Must!
The elegant Plaza de Armas is surrounded on 3 sides by colonial arcaded buildings with many restaurants, on the 4th side by the cathedral. Behind the cathedral is a very attractive alley with cafes
Taking up a whole block, various market stalls selling a wide variety of fruit and vegetables as well as flowers. Good place to try some of the local fruit juices of the region and empanadas.
A great mix of modern cuisine and local dishes, good coffees and cocktails in a nice setting. Fantastic Eggs Benedict!
