If it is above 96th street, calling it the Upper West side is a stretch but these folks may need more convincing. The nabe borders Columbia and Central Park. It has become trendy. Sometimes quiet.
Fort George is a sub-neighborhood of Washington Heights, and shares much of its history.

The area west of SoHo, once known for affordable office space during the pre-9/11 dot-com boom, has recently been named Hudson Square in a city effort to create yet another digital gulch.
The creator of this name worked in real estate. Really the west end of Washington Heights. Filled with Gays, Jews, Latinos, musicians, and any other outsider. Next week it will likely be renamed HuHe.
Hidden between 95th and 94th Streets, this uniquely charming “micro-neighborhood” is one of NYC’s best kept secrets. Built in 1921 by nightclub owner Thomas J. Healy, it is named after a 1910 play.
A beautiful park and a must see for any visitor. It's perfect when you just want to sit on a bench and read a book or do some people watching. On nice days you can find all sorts of live music too.
