Our favourite restaurant in Lisbon by far is A Cevicheria. It’s a small place in Príncipe Real, where you can enjoy amazing ceviche made by fresh fish and with plenty of lime.
This café is a bit tricky to find but it’s well worth it. At the top of the hill there’s a theatre called Teatro da Garagem. The café is located below it and it has one of the best views in Lisbon.
This place doesn’t need a long introduction, I can just say this – best ice cream in Lisbon. Do NOT miss it. Flavours to try: chocolate, pineapple, coconut, cinnamon, pistachio and menthe.
When I think of brunch, I think of a lot of different things, something sweet, some eggs, bread, yoghurt with granola, juice and coffee. If you’re in Alfama and visit Deli Delux, you get just that.
Brick Café is a perfect place for a weekend brunch. You can either get a mini or a full brunch. The food is great and you can get it vegetarian if you ask.
Another favourite is the cosy family restaurant Gato Pardo. The great service and cosy interior makes it feel like you’re stepping into someone’s living room.
Right behind Sé (the Cathedral in Alfama) there’s a cosy café called Pois. You can either get a brunch plate on a Saturday or play cards and eat tapas for hours with friends on a rainy day.
You can find anything from fresh fish, burgers, desserts, cheese and wine and it houses five of the top chefs of Lisbon (Alexandre Silva is recommended).
Damas is a lovely bar in the up and coming neighbourhood Graça. Perfect for a glass of wine with friends. If you want to grab a bite, the restaurant has vegetarian and vegan options.
If you like mussels and/or gin you’ll enjoy Moules & Gin in Cascais (they also have Moules & Beer in Lisbon).
Park is a rooftop bar located at the top of a car park. It has a beautiful view of the Ponte 25 de Abril bridge and the bell towers of the Santa Catarina church.
Where Baixa and Alfama meet, there’s a small but cosy café called Fábrica. The interior is very special, a whole wall of retro things to look at – cans, pictures, and other old objects.
You don’t have to go all the way to Bélem for a great Pastel de Nata. Manteigaria is very popular which means there’s a big chance you can get one while it’s still hot.
Wish Slow Coffee is a great place to work or just have a coffee. It is located at LX Factory, so you have to take the tram there. Try the mini Dutch pancakes, they’re delicious.
The Portuguese people mostly only drink espresso, which means that they’re not great at making coffee with milk. So, if you’re a “black coffee with milk” snob, CCL is the place to go.
Noobai is located at the Adamastor viewpoint. It has one of the best views in Lisbon, overlooking the River and the Ponte 25 de Abril bridge. The food is also good.
The original Pastéis de Nata. There's usually a queue to get in, but it moves fast and is well worth it.
Wonderful restaurant where all the courses, including the desserts are based on mushrooms. We had a few different Petiscos to start with, the smoked duck and the mushroom ice cream for dessert.
The flea market is open every Tuesday and Saturday and it’s a Lisbon must. You can find anything from second hand clothing, furniture, tourist souvenirs to old records and tiles.
You can find a giant book store, cafés, a tattoo parlour, shopping and much more. On Sundays, there’s a second hand market.
A café, gallery, cowork space, recording studio and event space. I’ve only visited the café, which is located in two story bus. If it’s too warm inside, you can enjoy the sun from their patio.
The botanical garden of Lisbon is beautiful and wild. Not as organized as other botanic garden I’ve visited. The palms don’t need a green house so most of the garden is outdoors.
My favourite viewpoint, also in Graça. You can see Mouraria, Alfama, Downtown and the Castle, the river and 25th April Bridge. There’s also a small café so you can rent your feet.
The highest point in Lisbon is in Graça and the view is incredible. If you don’t want to walk all the way up, believe me it’s far up, you can take tram 28 to Largo da Graça and walk from there.
The atmosphere here is very relaxed, tourists as well as locals drink beer and smoke week while the sun goes down behind the Ponte 25 de Abril bridge.
You will most likely walk by this viewpoint. It’s right by Bairro Alto, the popular party district. It has the same view as Miradouro da Graça, but from the other side of town and it’s not as high up.
Another popular day trip is Cascais (or Estoril, which is close by). It can be reached by train from Cais do Sodré. Don’t miss walking or biking to Boca do Inferno, the view is stunning.
