- X12月 6, 2012Find a quieter spot between the front & back bars. Free Wi-Fi's solid, too. The wifi name is "OPD" & the password is "drinkbeer". There are also some outlets back here, nice spot to work late & drink.
John Catoline1月 11, 2015If there is a king and castle for craft beers, The Trappist would hold this position. Beer is taken seriously here and it is some of the best anywhere. Try the small batches from independent Brewers.- The beer menu is damn near hard to beat... and that's before you move from the draft list to bottles! Great music, great guests, outstanding barkeeps

Daniel Petersen8月 7, 2012All the Belgian beer you could want, not to mention a pretty nice bottled menu. The classics haven't tasted as good (kinda warm or flat), but its still Belgian beer. It's a win for the environment.

Really love the atmosphere and crowd here. If you're solo hang out in the main bar, or grab a table in the back bar. Specializes in Belgian and Belgian-style beer, with occasional craft brews.

Can get really crowded and they know enough not to rush good beer, so if you're looking for a relaxed pint you might try another spot nearby.- Gotta get here before 11pm for the kitchen to be open! The grilled cheese with apple and Brussels sprouts is not to be missed!
Do not get the grilled cheese unless you like a heavy bechamel cheese with Dijon and chives. For me it was a bit too much. Get the sausage or pulled pork - the best. Do sit outside!
Nice selection but I stopped going due to their Euro-pours. Every beer comes w/ 1"+ of foam, yet you're paying a premium for all 8-10 oz.

Always a solid beer list, always a little pricy. So it goes with outstanding imports. Solid food menu and very BARTable.

If the back bar is closed, you can still buy the beers from its menu and have them delivered to your seat.- Tremendous selection of belgian & sours. Snacks (charcuterie, etc) most days. Often do BBQ, dogs, etc on Saturday afternoons.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, there's delicious Belgian beer. What you may not know is that The Trappist the best pastrami sandwich in Oakland, probably in the Bay Area!
