Why is the wait always the longest at this Shin-Sen-Gumi Hakata outpost? I don't know, but it's still my favorite. Friendly service, delicious broth, and the ability to customize your ramen easily.
The ramen here is fantastic, both meaty and vegetarian. But the kimchi fried rice might be even better. This is my favorite Hollywood lunch spot, both for the good food and the quick service.
Spicy Miso is the way to go here. The food here is not going to blow your mind, but the atmosphere is pleasant enough. And there's almost always parking in the small lot.
The yaki-ramen is a great choice for the days that you just don't want all that broth. Add some agedashi tofu and a creamy croquette as well if you're hungry - portions of yaki-ramen are not huge!
I've been known to order a lunch special, but I always regret it. Get the boat noodles. The rest of the menu is subpar. But be prepared to be hassled if you want to pay with a credit card.
I was told that it was "even better than Daikokuya." I don't know about that, but Silver Lake Ramen is a solid choice. Try afternoon dining to skip the long lines at night.
Two dining rooms make for a confusing maze when meeting people here. The pho is fine, if a bit expensive, but you can almost always grab a seat without too long of a wait (except during Art Walk).
The atmosphere is unbeatable, especially downstairs in the basement. Service is friendly, but watch your vegetarian orders carefully. Last time I was here, my veggie friend was served meat twice.
One is the loneliest number -- except if you crave ramen without a wait. I was able to walk right in and order. My perfect bowl includes extra chashu, green chili butter bomb, and corn. Delicious.
The hand pulled noodles are delicious -- and made right there in the restaurant. Scissors were a handy way to cut the noodles without making too much of a slurping mess.
The Tonkotsu Black ramen is fantastic (like others have noted), but I have to rave about the Brussels Sprouts. These little fried morsels of deliciousness will convert any sprouts hater.
The iPad ordering is neat, but no technology can save the (horribly dry) pork bun. Stick to the ramen and make sure you request some extra garlic.

Solid menu replica of the Lil Tokyo staple with a couple of new dishes, but the REAL REASON to go here: 1 of the most immersive spaces in LA. Makes ya feel like yer in the small streets o' Japan y'all
It's an addiction, really. Premium ramen a with mentaiko/salad combo is bomb. Share takoyaki and karaage. Extra garlic is free and get the chili oil for broth and dipping. Cold noodle is amazing too!!
Put your name down, and then go to Far Bar for drinks. Then get the ramen with the shredded pork bowl... so delicious!
I love the ramen and the raggae music. Chicken Bamboo Ramen with garlic, spinach, and egg when I'm getting sick makes me feel better instantaneously.

Start out with some fine tempura, like the savory soft boiled egg fried in a light crunchy batter, before the main event: sea urchin cream udon ($15.95).
Do not fear the cat ears. Think of it as Chinese orecchiette. Make sure noodles are dao xiao (knife cut) otherwise you kind of missed the whole point.
CASH ONLY. Get the Spicy Beef Stew with thick noodles. The cucumbers in garlic sauce goes well as a side dish. Finish it down with some shaved ice.

A rustic minimalist Vietnamese eatery serving inexpensive bowls of oxtail pho and pork banh mi, but also rolls, rice, and noodle dishes made with locally sourced product. Drop in for lunch or dinner.
I come here for the great ramen, not the service. Your water glass will not be filled unless you ask, they will not clear empty dishes, and you will have to ask for a box and the check. It's worth it.

The Ajo ("a-ho") Ramen was quite tasty, the tofu in the Mabo Ramen silky and soft without being overcooked, the noodles cooked just right. Cheap prices will make it a regular stop for me.
The kara kara ramen (with spicy ground pork in pork broth) is fabulous! If you like spicy, I highly recommend this!
