It’s a symbol of the University of Texas campus and is lit orange on special occasions like commencement or an athletic victory. It has quite a history. In 1966, a sniper killed or wounded 48 people.
This statue was donated by Major George W. Littlefield to memorialize students and alumni who died fighting in World War I. However, it’s also a favorite for school pranks. Think bubbles.

Named after the patron saint of the impossible, this oil rig was responsible for providing millions in oil royalties to the Permanent University Fund. It now sits near the stadium as a memorial.
