Eater7月 18, 2017Peter Luger may reign as the best steakhouse in Brooklyn, but the more intimate St. Anselm holds its own with pitch-perfect steaks and a menu where nearly everything touches the grill.
The butchers steak is probably the best value steak I've ever had. Truffle oil mashed potatoes are.. well... truffle oil mashed potatoes. Amazing!

Hip, happening, delicious, St Anselm can be loud, and wait times can run to 3 hours, but it's worth it for their simple meat cuts and interesting vegetable dishes. Over-salting can be an issue.

- Hanger steak if you’re sharing between two. Tomahawk for a larger group. Upside down pineapple cake for dessert. Reso recommended, otherwise you won’t be seated until 11pm.

Totally worth the hyper and the wait. The $18 butcher steak is the best deal in town. Sit out back with a beer and they will let you bring it in the back door when your table is ready.

This place is so badass. From the food to the wine to the service - and for a totally reasonable price. Diver Scallops, Grilled Halloumi, and BUTCHERS STEAK FTW!

The braised octopus is really good! The center cut pork chop is fantastic.

The Meatball Shop6月 15, 2012The butcher steak has us drooling. It's a hefty portion for the price, and if a steak could, this one would melt in your mouth. Pair with the grilled tomato & burrata salad. To die for!
Splurge a little and get the axe handle ribeye. Pair it with a Firestone Walker Union Jack IPA (they have it on tap). Doesn't get any better than that.
An EPIC meal. The Butcher steak was moderately priced and full of flavor. The strip steak had an great peppery crust. Their lamb chops are also priced per ounce, minimum 15 oz.
