If you have spare time, I recommend relaxing on the benches in the gardens. It is one of the most beautiful, artfully landscaped spots in all of downtown.

This is a great park to visit if you have disabled or small children visiting. You can drive all the way up to the summit and walk around. Get some great pics in the 'castle' and watch the sun set.
to switch it up, hike up the back trail of Shaw Butte or take the long scenic trail down North Mountain
Climb to the geological survey marker on the right. Then you'll really be at the summit, 2608 ft/795 m, 3rd highest peak in Phoenix.
