Ice skating in winter. There is a small parking lot about 100 feet up the jeep trail road, and from there the mine is about a mile walk on a steady but mild incline.
The gift shop is located here. The visitor center has restrooms and exhibits of the battle of Saratoga.

Bring a cooler with cold beverages and BBQ food/tools to enjoy the numerous picnic areas. Many great trails to hike or bike.
The historian at the site says that the 1787 arsenal (during Shays' Rebellion) was located somewhere along the north side of the parade ground, but they aren't sure exactly where.

If you look across the Hudson, you'll see a group of buildings that look like a monastery. Frederick Vanderbilt bought the land and helped the order build it in order to preserve his view & privacy.
Make sure to enter from the NY side. You take your life in your hands walking down to the falls on the MA side.

Quaint. Waitresses in pseudo colonial era dresses, no wine or cocktail lists on the tables. Food was ok, although the pecan rolls were amazing. Beautiful building and grounds.
The corn fritters with maple syrup and pecan rolls were a great start to my delicious meal! I ordered the smallest version of the Prime Rib! It was absolutely delicious! Service was a bit meh.
