In the reading room of the library, a arched window reminiscent of the study visit by Lenin in 1895. It is titled "Lenin in Germany", 1968, by Frank Glaser.
Go inside and discover the 3 colored stained glass windows called "Man and Nature", "Science and Man" and "Man and the Cosmos", 1962, by Walter Womacka. You will find them at the end of the east wing.
The building once hosted the National Council of the GDR so you will find a lot of socialist art inside. The glass screen (1964) by Walter Womacka is the largest. The foyer is open to the public.

Here there was the Pressecafé. The only remnant is the sign on the corner. The large colored frieze of industrial enamel (1969-73) by Willy Neubert has disappeared behind the Escados advertising.
The fountain is another work of Walter Womacka. It was build in 1970 as part of the redesign of Alexanderplatz designed by the artist collective around him.
On the eastern façade you can see the copper work "Der Mensch überwindet Zeit und Raum", short: "Mensch und Raum" ("Man transcends time and space" or "Man and Space"), 1971, by Walter Womacka.
The special feature is an encircling frieze entitled Our Life by Walter Womacka. It shows representations of the social life in the GDR & is one of the greatest works of art in Europe (7x125m).
The buildings of the Art Academy are an outstanding monument of postwar modernism. Among others you can see the mural "Turning Point" (1956) by Arno Mohr in the main building.

The entrance adorns a 9×15m mosaic entiteled "Aus dem Leben der Völker der Sowjetunion" (The Life of the People of the Soviet Union),1964, by Bert Heller.
Look out for the colourful mosaic works (inside the pavillions & on a wall close to Computerspielemuseum) which once decorated the beergarden of Café Warschau, a former restaurant in East Berlin.
Go underground and explore 20 pieces of art (1986) by Wolfgang Frankenstein. They show the history of the German labor movement, beginning with the March Revolution until the founding of the GDR 1949.
In the station at the exit Erich-Kurz-Str./Tierpark you will find the colorful mosaic wall with animals (Wandmosaik mit Tiermotiven, 1973) von Dagmar Glaser-Lauermann.
