Take the bus tour and bring water. It's a lot of walking, and a long trip if you want to get off the bus occasionally, but very worth the trip.

I recommend a visit here. The changing of the guard is a must see. Also several monuments. Be prepared to walk with comfortable shoes it’s very hilly. Plenty of pay parking.

Arlington National Cemetery, once the home of General Robert E. Lee, is the country’s largest military cemetery. Tours are available for a small fee or you can walk the grounds yourself.

Aside from the obvious of the eternal flame and the Tomb of the Unknown, you should also go see the graves of the Apollo 1 astronauts in the monument to the USS Maine

This is a place to pay respect to the veterans who are interred here, many of whom died to preserve our freedom. You can also find the Tomb of the Unknowns & can see the changing of the guard.

Be aware there are some places which are not wheelchair accessible (like Grant's tomb). Also you should plan on doing a lot of walking. Lee's Arlington House offers a great view of Washington.

Finally participated in 2017's wreath distribution. After living in the Northern Virginia area for 4+ years, hubby and I volunteered to place wreaths on fallen soldiers grave sites.

Felt so proud and humble just to be able to walk around the cemetery and also witness the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. No words- so much respect! I didn't even want to breath or talk.

A must see. Just walking the grounds you can see many memorials in addition to the well know Tomb of the Unknowns, JFK plot and Arlington House.

If you are visiting a family or friends grave, there is a special van to take you. It’s free, but you have to get a ticket. And the driver gladly takes tips.

Probablemente el cementerio militar más conocido de EEUU. Se puede visitar la tumba del soldado desconocido, de los Kennedy y el monumento a los Marines.

Be silent for the Changing of the Guard. It's respectful, and the sight is arresting. For this reason, Arlington is best alone.

Few places are as symbolic in the U.S. as this cemetery. Prepare for a lot of walking in order to see many of the nation's heroes' final resting place.
